2007-08 was a good year for the Mid-American Conference. Even though they failed for the ninth straight year to get multiple teams into the NCAA Tournament, they did get a total of four into postseason, the most since 2005 when there were five. All four teams won 20+ games. In addition, the MAC finished 12th in the nation in Conference RPI. This was the third year in a row of improvement as they strive to get back to their 2004-05 top ten rating. With several teams capable of contending for the title, perhaps continued improvement on the national landscape can be realized again in March.

Missouri Valley teams hoping to emulate Drake
CBB - Drake enjoyed a magnificent season out of the Missouri Valley Conference in '07-08, going 28-5 while garnering a #5 seed in the Big Dance. Unfortunately, since the Bulldogs' heartbreaking first round ouster, head coach Keno Davis left for the greener pastures of Providence and the Big East. For this year, several MVC teams boast similar aspirations, some you're quite familair with, others perhaps not. Read on as we offer up our predictions and team previews for "the Valley" in '08-09.

WAC hoops looks to rebound after down season
CBB - Last season was not a good season for the WAC overall as its conference RPI fell from 9th to 20th and it became a one-bid NCAA Tournament league for only the second time since 1983. Even worse, it was the only the sixth time in 44 years a WAC team did not win a post-season game. To compound matters, last year was a senior-dominated season. Ten of the top 15 scorers are gone along with seven of the top 10 rebounders. Does that mean the league will come up short of its postseason goals again in '08-09? Not necessarily...

Memphis reloads for more C-USA dominance
CBB - Memphis continues to wave the C-USA banner for everyone by making it to the NCAA championship game last year plus an Elite Eight appearance the year before. Over the past four years, only UAB, besides the Tigers, has been to the Big Dance from this league. However, there is some evidence that this year it appears the gap is narrowing between Memphis and everyone else. Still, it would be insane to pick anyone else to win the league title. See who we think will be 2nd through 12th as we break down Conference-USA.
